The Angelic Foundation is a non-profitable charitable organisation established in 2015 by a woman. Being founder and director of the organisation, her passion anchored on vulnerable people especially orphans. Angelic Foundation focuses on supporting children living with disability, orphans and less privileged women and youths with basic necessities such as access to food, clothes medication, care and support for the elderly and mentally challenged. The organisation also focuses on community development initiatives to help alleviate poverty and to combat the effects of climate change.
The foundation is situated in Zimbabwe with its operations being in Zvimba rural district community. The Foundation was established in support of the following UN Sustainable Development goals (sdgs) 1. Zero Poverty, 2. Zero Hunger, 3. Good Health and Wellbeing, 4. Good Education, 6. Clean Water and Sanitation, 8. Decent work and economic growth.
The founder was moved with the lack of basic needs due to the rise in poverty and hunger. The rural population in Zimbabwe is an ageing population with no support for the elderly from the government in form of grants.
Young women also suffer the most as they lack even basics such as sanitary wear. Young women in Zimbabwe still use cow dung, tree leaves etc. for their menstruation. According to UNICEF 1 out of every 10 school orphaned girls in Africa miss school or drop out during their menstruation period. Hunger and poverty within families of orphans are other causes of school drop outs.
The purpose for the establishment of this Organization was to fight against the rising child abuse, high rates of school dropout out especially amongst girls at primary level of education, Limited access to sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights to the Adolescent Limited access to the orphans and the Vulnerable children in the community, high rates of unemployment among the youth, Violation of women’s rights to access land and limited access to economic assets by the women.
Also notable was the rising rate of HIV infection amongst young women and adolescent girls in the district.
