Organizational Background
The Angelic Foundation is a non-profitable charitable organisation established in 2015 by a woman. Being founder and director of the organisation, her passion anchored on vulnerable people especially orphans. Angelic Foundation focuses on supporting children living with disability, women and youths and orphans with basic necessities such as access to food, clothes medication, care and support for the elderly and mentally challenged. The organisation also focuses on community development initiatives to help alleviate poverty and to combat the effects of climate change.
The founder was moved with the lack of basic needs due to the rise in poverty and hunger. The rural population in Zimbabwe is an ageing population with no support for the elderly from the government in form of grants.
Young women also suffer the most as they lack even basics such as sanitary wear. Young women in Zimbabwe still use cow dung, tree leaves etc. for their menstruation. According to UNICEF 1 out of every 10 school orphans in Africa miss school or drop out during their menstruation period. Hunger and poverty within families of orphans are other causes of school drop outs.
